How Big Is Your “Why”? The Key to Crushing Your 2025 Goals
Will you achieve your 2025 goals? Your marketing goals, your team goals, or your personal goals? The ones related to your business, or the ones tied to life outside your work?
The answer is simple. It all depends on how big your “why” is.
This isn’t an original thought. It’s something we picked up in a conversation that Jesse Itzler shared, and something he picked up from Chadd Wright. Jesse had asked Chadd if he’d be able to complete a long-distance run he had never tried before. Chadd’s response was short and sweet.
“It all depends on how big your “why” is.”
We’re in that season where we’re preparing to set our goals. The thing we too often miss is setting our “why” alongside our goal.
“We want to grow by 50% in 2025.” Why?
“I want to go to the gym three days a week.” Why?
“We want to expand our team by 5 people.” Why?
“I want to share more family dinners.” Why?
Why is “why” so important? Again, the answer is simple. At some point along the way, doing the work to achieve your goal is going to become uncomfortable. There will be barriers, excuses, limiting beliefs, and negative head trash to push through.
Where does your strength come from when these things rise up? What will you tap into when things get hard? What will keep you going?
Your why.
“We want to grow by 50% in 2025 SO that we can provide for our team financially.”
“I want to go to the gym three days a week SO I can sleep better and gain more energy.”
“We want to expand our team by 5 people SO that we can serve our customers better.”
“I want to share more family dinners SO we can connect more deeply.”
At its core, “why” is about identifying what you want.
Growth leads to providing for your team.
The gym leads to sleep and energy.
A larger team leads to serving customers at a higher level.
Family dinners lead to deeper connections.
